How Religion started a never ending war

The current Israeli conflict with Lebanon and all the other is caused by the fact that Israel was a mistake. Why did they pick the land they now occupy? Religion. I can't think of a better example of why religion should not be involved with politics!!

The only solution for Israel in the long term is to make Lebanon dependent on Israel. If people in Lebanon start getting services and money from Israel, the Lebanese people will turn away from Hezbollah to the better offer.

Civ and history has shown us that large militaries are a deterrent but they are also a tool that begs to be used. The problem is that these forces are not the right tool for the job.

If you could read (and spell) you would have understood my beef was that religion should not be in politics. If believing in god makes it easier for you to see children die, good for you. Nothing could comfort me to such a thing.

I think it's a bit too simplistic to blame it on religion. There's a good bit about the geopolitics involved here:

It's also worth considering Chomsky's view of Israel being the US's remaining foothols in the Middle East, after the fall of the Shah of Iran.

Riwa. The whole purpose of this is to express views in a polite and friendly manner. No matter how controversial some people's views are, they do not qualify such angry responses. On the other hand I must agree with Les the Spaceman and partially with Eddie. Ultimately this issue isn't about which belief system is wrong and which isn't. People have a right to hold their views and practice (within the boundaries of what is reasonable). The issue here is that religious people have started all kinds of political turmoil and if you look back at history, there are so many instances where religious people are to blame. Fundamentalist religion has caused so many wars and as a result many people have turned against all religion. I recon that the assumption made by Eddie is not whether religion is the cause of all the worlds problems but that religion causes more problems than it solves when paired with politics.
